age
82,
of
Alderson,
W.Va.,
passed
away
on
Wednesday,
May
28,
2025
at
the
Seneca
Trail
Healthcare
Center
in
Lewisburg,
W.Va. following a long illness.
Born
April
6,
1943
in
Alderson,
he
was
the
son
of
the
late
George
Phillip
and
Lucy
May
Craft
Kennedy.
In
addition
to
his
parents,
he
was
preceded
in
death
by his former wife, Barbara Fox Van Buren, and an infant brother.
Mr.
Kennedy
attended
Union
High
School
in
Union,
W.Va.
and
went
on
to
serve
our
Country
in
the
United
States
Army,
having
been
stationed
in
Germany.
Following
his
honorable
discharge
from
the
Army,
he
worked
at
the
Naval
Shipyards
in
Portsmouth,
Va.
Mr.
Kennedy
returned
to
West
Virginia
and
went
to
work
as
an
equipment
operator
for
Three
Brothers
Inc.
of
Lewisburg,
W.Va.
where
he
worked
for
12
years.
He
then
went
to
work
as
an
equipment
operator
for
Ambler
Building
Contractors
of
Lewisburg,
where
he
retired
after
30
years
of
service.
Mr.
Kennedy
retired
to
his
homeplace,
Lonesome
Valley
Farm
on
Flat
Mountain,
Alderson.
He
was
a
member
of
the
Flat
Mountain
Missionary
Baptist
Church
on
Flat
Mountain,
Alderson and was an avid classic car and old farm equipment enthusiast.
Survivors
include
his
son,
David
Lee
Kennedy
and
his
wife,
Amy
Kennedy,
of
Sinks
Grove,
W.Va.;
and
many friends who became family.
Funeral
services
will
be
Sunday,
June
8,
2025
at
the
Lobban
Funeral
Home
Chapel
in
Alderson,
W.Va.
with
Pastor
Randy
Burdette
officiating.
Burial
will
follow
at
the
Alderson
Cemetery
in
Alderson.
Friends
may
call
Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
