Baker
Herbert,
beloved
sister,
aunt,
and
friend,
passed
away
on
May
9,
2025,
in
Wilmington,
North
Carolina,
at
the
age
of
76.
Born
in
Jacksonville,
North
Carolina,
she
dedicated
her
life
to
the
service
of
others
as
a compassionate Registered Nurse.
Cheryl
held
a
deep
affection
for
the
Alderson
Indians
and
the
Washington
Redskins,
pursuits
that
brought
her
joy
throughout
the
years.
She
was
a
graduate
of
Alderson
High
School,
class
of
1967
and
was
proud
to
have
been,
one
of
coach,
Abe
McLaughlin's
"
Nine
Girls".
She
attended
Greenbrier
College
for
Women
and
Marshall
University
and
received
her
Nursing
Degree
from Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing in Alexandria, VA.
She
was
preceded
in
death
by
her
devoted
husband
of
36
years,
Walter
"Skip"
Herbert,
her
parents,
Perry
W.
Baker,
Sr.
and
Jane
Ann
Hutton
Baker,
and her brother, Bedford Lake Baker.
Cheryl
leaves
behind
a
loving
family
who
will
forever
miss
her
warm
presence:
her
brother,
Perry
W.
Baker,
Jr.
and
his
wife,
Carol,
of
Martinsburg,
WV;
her
sister,
Melissa
Baker
Pigford
and
her
husband,
Ed,
of
Wilmington,
NC;
along
with
several
nieces,
nephews,
and
cousins
who
will
dearly
miss
her
smile.
Her
family
was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished the time spent among loved ones.
A
informal
memorial
gathering
will
be
held
on
Wednesday
July
2,
2025
at
the
Asylum
Grill,
399
Randolph
Street
Lewisburg,
WV
from
1:00
PM
to
3:00
PM.
Burial
of
her
urn
will
be
at
Ivy
Green
Cemetery
in
Alexandria, Virginia at a later date allowing those who knew and loved her to gather in remembrance.
In
lieu
of
flowers,
memorials
may
be
sent
in
her
memory
to
Lower
Cape
Fear
Life
Care,
