Alice Marie Bowyer Phillips, 65, of Alderson, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, after a short illness. Born in Union, February 16, 1958, daughter of the late Franklin Dewey Bowyer and Barbara Ann Ballard Bowyer. Other than her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband William “Snuffy” Phillips. She was raised in Alderson, and came from small beginnings, and didn’t have much. She had a family of brothers and sisters that meant everything to her and that was all she needed. She raised her two children with love and devotion, giving the dreams of lives only a mother could give. She worked at Shenandoah Manor, owned a business for many years, and retired at the former Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, making many friends at each stop on the way. Into retirement she devoted her time and love to her grandchildren, and becoming “Nana”. Alice touched many lives on her journey. She never knew a stranger, went out of her way to make everyone comfortable and happy when at her home, didn’t want anyone to need even if she went without. She loved her family dearly, her time on her front porch surrounded by them, her girl’s softball teams, and her closest friends. She was known for her excitement for random trips with her family and friends, and was always looking forward to planning out her next adventure, be it a cruise, or a trip to any point on the map. She was an incredible woman, lived an amazing life, and leaves us with countless memories that will be cherished by all. Survivors include her son, Sheldon Bowyer and April Church of Alderson, daughter, Dana Taylor and Richie Massey of Alderson; grandchildren; Cole Bowyer, Bailey Honaker, Jaycee Taylor and Kendal Massey; brothers, James Bowyer of Alderson, Robert and Donna Bowyer of Hinton, Leonard Bowyer and Carolyn Eggleston of Alderson, Dennis Boyer of Florida; sisters, Joanne Jones of Alderson, Angela and John Hellms of Georgia Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial will follow at the Phillips Cemetery, on Phillips Cemetery Rd. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
