BEWARE OF SCAMS Unfortunately   there   are   people   who   try   to   take   advantage   of   flood   victims.      There   have   been   two   incidents   in   the Alderson   area   in   the   last   week   where   a   flood   victim   was   called   on   the   phone   and   asked   for   personal   information including bank account numbers. The   caller   said   they   were   with   FEMA   and   ready   to   make   a   large   settlement   if   they   would   just   give   them   their personal information so they could complete the claim. Flood    Plain    Manager    Eric    Duff    said,    “FEMA    will    NEVER    call    anyone    on    the    phone    and    ask    for    personal information.      Please   do   not   respond   to   these   calls.      This   makes   me   so   mad   when   scammers   try   to   take advantage of people who are already suffering.” Recovery   is   hard   enough   without   criminals   trying   to   take   advantage   of   those   who   are   in   the   midst   of   the process. Citizens are asked to be aware of this scam and that there may be others as well.
