Lena Karnes - Obituary August 1, 1917 - October 29, 2002
Alderson - Lena Karnes Feamster, 85, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness. Born Aug. 1, 1917, in Logan, she was the daughter of the late Henry Whitten and Cora Jane Smith Karnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Samuel Feamster, Sr. on May 20, 2002; daughter, Martha M. Feamster; two brothers, Henry Whitten Karnes, Jr. and Kyle Anderson Karnes; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Feamster was a homemaker. She was a 1936 graduate of Alderson High School, Alderson, and was a member of the Alderson Presbyterian Church, Alderson. Survivors include four sons, Frank Feamster and wife, Susan of Nags Head, NC, Richard Feamster of Gloucester, VA, Henry Feamster and wife, Sonnie of Ronceverte, and George S. Feamster, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Hinton; four daughters, Marjorie Sharp of Grafton, Mary Phillips and husband, Jim of Forest City, NC, Rebecca Loudermilk and husband, Donald of Frankford, and Rachel Goodall and husband, Kenneth of Alderson; 14 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five step-great- grandchildren. Services were held Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Rev. Deana M. Armstrong officiating. Burial followed at the Lewis Cemetery at Blakers Mill, near Alderson. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Feamster, Douglas Sharp, Christopher Feamster, James Phillips III, Sam Feamster, Shawn Loudermilk, David Sharp and Rick Parker.
