Men’s Bible Study - Greenbrier Baptist Church - 1924 Photo Charles Greg Eary - 4-29-2020
This   is   a   picture   of   the   men’s   bible   class   at   the   Greenbrier   Baptist   Church   in Alderson.   It   displays   100   men. Among   those   men   in   the   picture   are   my   great   grandfather,   Floyd   Eary   and   my   grandfather   Frank   J   Eary. At the   bottom   of   the   picture   is   written   J.   H. A   Miller’s   Men’s   Bible   Class,   dated   June   1924.   I   proudly   display   it in my home, and vividly remember seeing it early in my life. Charles”Greg” Eary

Information Update From Bill Michelinie II I   was   delighted   to   see   the   photo   of   Dr.   Miller's   bible   class.   James   Hiram   Alexander   Miller   was   my   great grandfather   who   built   the   house   we   own   on   North   Monroe   Street   and   I   have   never   seen   this   photo   before! How   exciting.   I   have   always   heard   that   his   bible   class   was   very   popular   but   this   photo   looks   like   it   must   be half   of   the   men   in   town!   :-)   James   was   the   town   dentist   for   years   and   his   office   was   on   the   second   floor   of the   bank   building   on   the   Monroe   side.   For   a   time,   his   son   Max   W.   was   a   dentist   on   the   second   floor   of   what is now called the Renaissance Building on the Greenbrier side. I   have   been   trying   to   research   James'   ancestry   back   in   Scotland   but   hit   a   dead   end   when   his   ancestor entered   the   country.   I   know   the   family   lived   in   Rattray   and   we   went   to   the   Scottish   hall   of   records   in Edinburgh   but   struck   out   because   James   Millar   (as   it   was   originally   spelled)   is   a   very   common   name.   My wife   Lenore   and   I   plan   to   visit   Rattray   in   May   next   year   when   we   return   to   Scotland.   I   hope   to   discover   the address before we go! Thank   you   for   sharing   this   photo   on   the   website.   My   mother   (JHA's   granddaughter)   was   absolutely delighted   to   see   it.   She   wanted   to   comment   on   it   but   there   is   no   place   to   do   it   at   the   bottom   of   the   web page and she doesn't use e-mail. (She is 91 God bless her and has never had any interest in computers).
