Pack Your Bags For Alderson
OK,   so   it   may   not   be   so   far   away   but   Alderson   Main   Street   is   again   offering   a   fabulous   mini-getaway   to this charming town. It   will   be   a   fabulous   couple   of   days   in   Alderson   for   the   winning   ticket   holder   and   5   of   their   family   and friends.  The drawing for this great prize will be held on September 8th and the winner notified by phone.   Included   in   this   wonderful   package   is   accommodation   for   6   at   the   Historic   Old   Victorian   Inn   in   Alderson, owned   by   Doris   and   Sam   Kasley,   on   October   25th.      Imagine   yourself   sitting   in   the   parlor   of   the   Inn enjoying   hors   d’oeuvres   and   good   conversation   prior   to   being   served   a   gourmet   dinner   in   the   beautifully appointed dining room. The   gourmet   dinner   will   be   prepared   by   “Chef”   Rich   Lohmeyer,   a   local   Pastor   who   has   quite   a   reputation in   the   area   as   a   great   cook.   He   started   cooking   back   on   the   farm   with   his   Mom,   and   helped   pay   his   way through   Seminary   by   working   in   the   kitchen   and   cooking.      He   loves   to   read   cook   books   and   is   always ready   to   try   new   recipes.      He   has   been   auctioned   off   as   a   “Chef”   many   times   for   fund   raisers   at   his churches;   cooked   for   Oktoberfest   at   two   churches;   prepared   corned   beef   and   cabbage   St.   Patrick's   Day dinners   several   times;   and   was   a   part   of   the   “Men   Who   Cook”   fund   raiser   for   Communities   in   Schools   for the   last   two   years.      Lohmeyer’s   idea   of   relaxing   is   to   cook   a   huge   meal   with   new   recipes,   although   nothing is ever too complicated or takes too long.  Soups are a specialty. After   a   good   night’s   rest   in   the   comfy   private   bedrooms,   there   will   be   a   scrumptious   breakfast   at   the   Inn.     Then   it   will   be   time   for   shopping   as   the   winner   will   receive   gift   certificates   for   shopping   at   the   Artisans Gallery; Bridgewalk Vendors; Rexroad Supply; Sunset Berry Farm; and Alderson’s Store.  Tickets   are   available   at   Alderson’s   Store,   the   Artisans   Gallery,   and   Bridgewalk   Shops   at   the   Visitor’s Center   in   Alderson   or   by   calling   304-445-7348.      Tickets   are   available   for   a   donation   of   $5.00   each   or   five tickets   for   $20.00.      All   proceeds   from   the   raffle   will   be   go   to   the   many   projects   of   Alderson   Main   Street whose    mission    is    to    further    the    economic    development    of    the    Town    of   Alderson    by    improving    the appearance of the town, fostering tourism and marketing the town and its businesses.
