Take A Valentine’s Trip To Alderson
If   you   are   looking   for   something   unique   to   do   with   your   sweetheart   on   Valentine’s   Day,   February   14, consider   a   trip   to   Alderson.      To   walk   off   future   calories,   park   at   the   Visitors   Center   and   stroll   across   the Alderson   Memorial   Bridge.      The   view   up   and   down   the   Greenbrier   River   is   great   any   time   of   year.      Pass Alderson   Alumni   Park,   cross   the   railroads   tracks   with   caution,   and   take   in   the   view   of   Alderson’s   Historic Business   District.      It   is   anchored   by   the   Historic   1896   C&O   Depot   painted   bright   orange   and   trimmed   with maroon—the   colors   of   the   C&O   railroad   in   1896.      Continue   up   the   hill   and   across   the   new   bridge   where the Big Wheel Restaurant will be located on your left. The   Big   Wheel   is   offering   a   “Sweetheart   Special”   dinner   of   your   choice   of   a   10-inch   ribeye   steak   or   pan fried   trout   or   a   bone-in   sirloin   pork   chop.     The   entrée   will   come   with   your   choice   of   potato,   salad   bar,   and   a roll.      Dessert   will   be   your   choice   of   red   velvet   cake,   or   hot   fudge   cake   or   a   strawberry   banana   split   sundae with    whipped    cream    and    sprinkles.        Two    of    these    special    dinners    are    available    for    $29.95.        No reservations are needed. If   those   menu   choices   are   not   for   you,   continue   up   Riverview   Avenue   to   the   Riverview   Café   where   you can   start   your   dinner   off   with   a   house   salad   then   choose   an   entrée:   Ribeye   Roast   for   $24.95   or   Chicken Cordon   Bleu   for   $19.95.      Both   come   with   twice   baked   potato,   green   beans   and   homemade   roll.      Finish   off with   a   delicious   dessert   of   your   choice:   peanut   butter   pie   or   a   hot   fudge   sundae   brownie   or   chocolate lasagna.      Reservations   are   necessary   for   these   special   meals   so   call   304-445-2550   to   book   the   5,   6,   7,   or 8:00 p.m. seating.  Terri   James,   an   owner   of   the   Riverview   Café,   said,   “We   really   enjoyed   serving   our   patrons   a   special   meal on   New   Year’s   Eve   and   are   excited   about   our   meals   for   Valentine’s   Day.      Please   make   your   reservation soon and join us!” Cross   North   Monroe   Street,   walk   one   more   block,   and   you   will   be   back   at   your   car   at   the   Visitors   Center.     If   your   meal   was   early,   you   might   want   to   walk   out   on   the   Alderson   Memorial   Bridge   one   more   time   and watch the sunset.  PHOTO CAPTION: The Hot Fudge Sundae Brownie from the Riverview Café.
