A.  A. MCLAUGHLIN SCHOLARSHIP  2021
Caroline   Telano      is   this   year's   winner   of   the   A.   A.   McLaughlin   Scholarship   that   is   awarded   each   year   to Greenbrier   East   Senior(s)   who   reside   in   the   original   Alderson   High   School   district.   Caroline      is   shown accepting   the   award   from Ann   Bowling   Tuckwiller,   Executive   Director   of   the      Greenbrier   Valley      Community Foundation   along   with   Christy   Obermeyer,   Greenbrier   East   Counselor   Class      of   2021,   Linda   Loudermilk, Mary(McLaughlin) Carr,  Abigail Carr  and Alex McLaughlin. . Caroline   was   awarded   a   $3000   scholarship   from   the   fund   .   She   will      attend   Concord   University   this   fall where   she   will   major   in   sociology      with   a   minor   in   criminal   Justice   .She      is   an   outstanding   student   who   is motivated and focused. The   A.   A.   McLaughlin   Scholarship   was   started   in   2001   and   the   fund   is   invested   and   managed   by   the Greenbrier   Valley   Community   Foundation.   .   Since   the   start,   the   program   has   awarded   37   scholarships   to Greenbrier   East   students   based   on   accomplishment   and   need.      $33,000   has   been   awarded   over   that   time period.   In      the   beginning   a   single   $500   scholarship   was   awarded   each   year.   The      fund   has   grown   to   the point that in most  years 3 $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually. The   grant   committee   is   very   appreciative   of   those   who   have   supported   the   fund   and      welcome   new supporters. Please contact Alex McLaughlin at alexarmac@gmail.com .
