Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday Nov. 29 will start the  Holiday Season in Alderson. The Alderson Visitor Center will be open from 10am-5pm with an exhibit of trees and  wreaths decorated by several community groups in the area. Buy a chance to win a wreath. The Lions Club will  have live trees for sale in the parking lot until mid-Dec. The Historic 1896 C&O Alderson Train Depot will be open  11am-4pm with historical exhibits and a train lay-out. Alderson's Store and Wolf Creek Gallery will be open and you  can have a great family meal at the Big Wheel.           The Alderson Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6:30pm starting at the Depot and followed by a visit from Santa and goodies at the Alderson Community Center. The Visitor Center will be open 10am-7:30pm.                                                  From Dec. 5-12 anyone can be a part of the People’s Choice House Decorating Contest. Pick-up a ballot at the  Visitor Center and drive around Alderson, fill in the address of your favorite house in each category, and return your ballot to the Visitor Center. Winners will be announced Sunday, Dec 14. The annual Holiday Bazaar at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9-3  with a soup and sandwich lunch from 11-2 and Sunday, Dec. 14 from noon to 5 with lunch from 12-2.  On Sunday,  starting at 1:30pm and every hour on the half hour, there will be singing by a famous local choir. The Alderson Christmas Homes Tour will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14th from 1-5pm.  Tickets are $10 and can be  purchased in advance at the Alderson Visitor Center or on the day of the event at the Depot. Four homes and three churches will be welcoming visitors.  There will also be a model train show in the basement of the Alderson  Presbyterian Church and Alderson's Store and the Wolf Creek Gallery will be open for shopping. The annual Community Cantata at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church will be held on Sunday, Dec 21 at 3pm. Throughout the Holiday Season, the Alderson Interpretive and Visitor Center will be open Thu-Sat.  10am-5pm and  the Train Depot will be open Saturdays 11am-3pm.
