Improving The Community One Project At A Time” PO Box 117 -  Alderson W Va.  24910 © Alderson Main Street 2016 Alderson Artisans Gallery Online Fundraiser The Alderson Artisans Gallery has launched an online Generosity fundraiser, and needs your help!   The Alderson  Artisans Gallery is an exciting new venture spearheaded and supported by Alderson Main Street, a non-profit  organization aimed at revitalizing the town.  The Gallery officially opened its doors in April of 2015, staffed by  volunteers from the community. It offers a home for the creative energies of local artisans and brings an opportunity  for the citizens of Alderson to enjoy a local art venue.  The Gallery also showcases art made by local schoolchildren. Alderson Main Street President Jim Russell said, “The Artisan’s Gallery is one of Alderson’s real jewels.  It proves  that small town volunteers can accomplish great things.” All contributions during this fundraiser will go towards making much-needed improvements to the Gallery’s space in  the historic Alderson Renaissance building, so it can continue bringing art to Alderson, support local artisans and  bring local children's art into the public eye. The gallery is hoping to be able to install safer wiring and lighting in their  space this spring, pending availability of sufficient funds. The gallery is located along Rt. 12, at the Greenbrier County end of the historic Alderson Memorial Bridge. The Artisans Gallery has been offering classes to the public with help from the Hollowell Foundation.   Classes in rug  hooking, pen and ink drawing, faux painting and stained glass, taught by local artisans, have brightened the winter  months for many.  All classes are open to the general public, some scholarships are available, and the fees support  ongoing programming. The Gallery is proud to have been one of the few retail businesses in Alderson which stayed open through the winter.  Gallery volunteers have worked hard to offer a shopping venue throughout the winter months where people can find  unique, handmade, and often inexpensive, gifts. Additional volunteer support is always welcomed. Donations of any size are accepted, and are tax-deductible. To donate, and for more information, please visit  https://www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/bring-art-to-alderson. The Artisans Gallery can also be found on  Facebook .  Mayor Travis Copenhaver said, “We are so pleased to have the Artisan’s Gallery complete its first successful year.   They want to grow and the town wants to help.  Please support their fund-raising campaign.” PHOTO CAPTION:  The Alderson Artisan’s Gallery (Click on photo for larger view)   Contact:  Margaret Hambrick   or Lynda Howe                 304-646-2439               304-445-2005
