You may
recall that we discussed the issue of applying to be an ON TRAC
community more than a year ago. This is a program somewhat like
Main Street. In fact, it has been called "Main Street Light".
At that time the program was not open for new applications. It
is now.
While we call our selves "Alderson Main Street" and were once an
official Main Street, we are not officially considered by the
State of West Virginia to be a Main Street organization now.
You may have noticed that we do not go to the state wide
meetings or get awards like Ronceverte Main Street, for
example. We have been unable to meet the requirement to have at
least a part time, paid Executive Director. Or, you
could say we have chosen to spend our money on projects rather
than hire a part time executive director.
While the ON TRAC process does not require a part time executive
director, it does require a commitment from business owners in
the town. AMS has not attracted many local business owners as
members in spite of numerous personal and written invitations.
Please let Judy Lewallen know if you think AMS should be
represented at this mandatory meeting.
Thanks! and Happy New Year!
