"Improving the Community - One Project at a Time"

Testimony

During a small get-together after the Alumni banquet on July 5, 2008, the members of the Class of 1967 who were in attendance signed a "Porches of Alderson" poster to be sent to Jeanette Coffman, a classmate who is serving in Iraq with the military unit with which she works.  She had sent a note saying, "I am in Iraq providing entertainment for the soldiers in the MNO-N Division." and asking that her address be updated.

When she received the poster, she sent the following note:

"Dear ...Classmates,

I received the 'Porches of Alderson' poster and I have to say I was moved to tears.  What great patriotic spirit Alderson has and your signatures and words of encouragement were just overwhelming.

Thank you all so much.  I cannot express how much your actions meant to me!

Iraq is far removed from the beauty and serenity of Alderson, but, as I look upon the poster, and the connection with you all, the distance has closed.

Please let everyone know how much I appreciate them!

Love, Jeanette"
