Vice President Jim Herod called the meeting to order at 7:03
PM.
Minutes were handed out prior to the meeting and read by
members. Motion was received by Vivian Pranulis that the
minutes be approved; 2nd by Tom Dameron. Motion
carried to approve minutes.
OLD BUSINESS:
Treasurer’s report was read by Francis Simmons. A copy is
available at request. Reminder: Please remember dues are
due for the new year.
GRIC:
Vivian spoke with the Architects and things are moving along.
There will be a meeting for further discussion in a couple of
weeks.
Town Flag:
Barry and Tod are working on it. There are high hopes that we
may have something to look at for the November meeting.
Alumni Park:
We sold about $350.00 worth of bricks at the Fall Festival.
We have a total of about 38 sold. We will be selling again at
the Christmas Homes Tour. A suggestion was made that we call
it the Alderson Community Sidewalk in future material because
some people thought it is only for Alderson Alumni. Jack Gadd
requested that the VFW be allowed to place a flag pole and
flag at the park. This was thought to be an excellent idea
along with an additional pole to add the town flag when
complete.
Homes Tour:
We have 5 homes so far. The date is December 7th.
Grants are in place for advertising. Rules for the photo
contest are posted on the Web site and will be displayed at
the Depot.
Flag on new bridge:
Hold for next meeting.
Fall Heritage Festival:
19 of 30 vendors came. A short discussion was held about
moving to the bridge next year. Visibility, Electricity and
Safety were the main thoughts for moving to the bridge.
Possible time change to 10-4.
Election of Officers:
Margaret Hambrick - President
Dana Pack - Treasurer
Judy Hoover - Secretary
Motion was made by Tom Dameron that the above officers be
approved. The motion was seconded by Bobby Hoover. Motion
carried. Jim Herod has agreed to stay on as Vice President
until another candidate can be nominated.
NEW BUSINESS:
Jim Herod shared some brochures that he had picked up from the
Union area about things to do or see there.
Greenbrier County Planning Commission is going to be hold
meetings over the next few months in reference to the
Comprehensive Plan. It was suggested that we plan to attend
some of these meeting to be able to give input. Tom Dameron
has the schedule of meetings for anyone who is interested in
attending.
