"Improving the Community - One Project at a Time"

March 19, 2009 Meeting

President Margaret Hambrick called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM.

Minutes were handed out prior to the meeting and read by members.  Motion was received by Fawn Valentine that the minutes be approved 2nd by Tom Dameron.  Motioned carried to approve minutes.

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer’s report was read by Margaret Hambrick.  A copy is available at request.  Reminder:  Please remember Dues are due for the new year.

GRIC:   We had a total of 8 bids. (6 live bids)  The low bid for the outside only has been awarded.  Work to hopefully be completed by the 4th of July.

Town Flag: We are making progress.  Council has approved Main Street’s use.  Tom Dameron and Margaret will continue to work on where to get the flags and the price to produce them.  A short discussion was held about the possibility of limited addition flags for a higher price.  An example would be to number 100 flags that sell at the higher price.  We also discussed whether the flags should have grommets or sleeves.  Tom or Margaret will possibly update at the next meeting.

Alumni Park:  The bricks have not been ordered yet so get those orders in.  We would like to have at least 50 bricks to lay prior to the July 4th celebration.  The VFW flag pole as well as an additional one will go up soon. Two trees have been purchased to be planted very soon also.  We have some volunteers to help clean up the river bank, paint the Gazebo, and seal the floor.

Green building:  The paper work has been completed.  The $750 fee sent previously has never been cashed. The Town will pay the on going lease.  We are also waiting for the paperwork to be completed for the Civil War sign that will be erected near the green building.

Flower Festival:  The vendors all voted to keep the Flower Festival on the green area due to the shade. Everything is shaping up.  Ads will be in the papers in the coming weeks.  Judy Hoover made leaflets to be delivered to area families to promote the town wide yard sale.  Volunteers to help deliver are Tom Dameron, Linda Rowland, Frances Simmons and Fawn Valentine.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ad in July 4th booklet:  Do we wish to continue our ad in the booklet?  Motion was made by Vivian Pranulis to have our ad again this year and seconded by Francis Simmons.  Motion carried.

Railroad Heritage Festival:  Margaret suggested that we might want to set up a booth at the festival. Tom Dameron and Bill Simmons volunteered to staff the booth.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:46 PM
