"Improving the Community - One Project at a Time"

AGENDA
ALDERSON MAIN STREET
October 15, 2009
7:00 p.m. at City Hall

Greetings!   Welcome!  Did you bring a friend?  The new year will begin in November for Alderson Main Street and your $15 dues will be “due” again!   Your dues go into the general fund for projects we support and are an important source of revenue.  They entitle you to be a voting member of the organization, attend Chamber of Commerce events, and work hard.  What a bargain!  Thank you!

Three Cheers!!!

·        For Barbara Taylor and Frances Simmons and everyone else who helped at the Main Street table at the Arts and Crafts fair!

·        For the Board of Directors of the Alderson Community Center for the Arts and Humanities for organizing the event and for all the other hard work they do.

For everyone, both near and far, who cares about Alderson

Minutes from last meeting—Judy Hoover, Secretary

Old Business:

1.     Treasurer’s report—Dana Pack, Treasurer

Our deepest sympathy goes to Dana on the death of her husband, Rodney.  His gracious, gentle and helpful presence will be missed more than words can say.

2.     Greenbrier River Interpretative Center—Vivian Pranulis/M. Hambrick

3.     Town flag—25 small flags have been ordered.

4.     ACC Arts and Crafts show—Barbara Taylor-report

5.     Cookbooks—Judy Lewallen found another 150 copies so we will not need to re-order for a while.

New Business:

1. New Ideas???

2.  On Sunday, November 8 at 3:00 p.m. there will be a FREE concert at the Alderson Presbyterian Church by harpist Leah Trent.  This event is sponsored by Carnegie Hall as a part of their Carnegie-On-The-Road series.  Bring all your friends and neighbors to this great FREE event.

3.  Tammy and Lee Skaggs are planning to have the usual model train exhibit on Sunday, December 6, 2009.  The Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church is planning their bazaar and lunch and The Alderson Bridge Trust is considering opening the Alderson Memorial Bridge for a drive under the lights.  The Praise and Worship Team, who had us on their calendar, may be performing at the Methodist Church.  Even though we are not hosting the Christmas Homes Tour, it looks like there will be several Christmas activities that Sunday afternoon.

4.  Next Meeting—November 19, 2009; 7:00 p.m. at City Hall
