"Jesse & Jake"
Submitted by Ward Parker

This is a 1950's picture of Jesse Stanley (L) and Jake Bryant (R), taken on threshing day at Lester Bennett's farm, near Blue Sulphur. The Ferguson tractor and thresher belonged to George Henson's father, and he hired Jesse to follow the thresher. As you can see from the dirt on Jesse, threshing was a very dusty business! Jesse kept a very sharp pocket knife, and he usually cut the bands from the bundles of wheat or oats. Photo courtesy of Mary Bennett.
