A Word From The Mayor
The   following   is   our   two   week   plan   to   encourage   people   to   stay   home   as   we   deal   with   the   potential   for   the COVID 19 virus peak. We will re-evaluate this plan after two weeks. 1. Our library is closed until school resumes. 2. Our police officers are following the CDC recommendations to carry out their duties. 3.   Our   plant   operations   for   water   and   sewer   will   have   no   visitors   or   sales   visits. The   staff   at   both   places   will do   their   job   and   go   home   (emphasis   on   home)   to   help   self   limit   exposure   to   contact.   Bulk   water   will   still   be available   from   6:00am-9:00am   at   the   water   plant   for   our   bulk   customers.   You   must   contact   the   plant   304- 445-7831 prior to pickup. 4.   City   hall   will   be   available   by   phone   (304-445-2916)   or   email   ( clerk@aldersonwv.org ).   Payments   will   be made   online   or   through   the   drop   box. The   phones   will   be   answered   but   obviously   many   will   go   to   voicemail with the influx of calls. LEAVE A MESSAGE AND STAFF WILL RETURN CALLS). 5. All meetings are canceled for the next two weeks. 6. All   court   cases   are   continued.   We   will   not   have   court   this   week   as   scheduled. There   are   over   sixty   cases on   the   docket.   There   will   be   no   warrants   for   failure   to   appear   or   license   suspensions   during   this   time.   All court issues requiring in person appearance have been continued. 7. All   payments   can   be   made   by   drop   box   at   311   Monroe   Street   South,   online   at   www.toawvpayments.com or by calling 1-877-794-1209. You will need your account number and the amount you need to pay. 8.   All   sports   registrations   for   baseball   and   softball   have   been   suspended   by   the   appropriate   regulatory boards This   is   not   overkill.   This   is   not   media   hype.   This   is   not   people   being   “sheep!”   This   is   a   pandemic   health crisis. We are treating it with the seriousness it needs. Stay   in.   Keep   your   kids   home.   Make   sure   the   elderly   have   what   they   need.   Keep   your   distance.   Wash   your hands. Clean surfaces. Please include us all in your prayers as I am doing as well. Travis L. Copenhaver, Mayor
