A graduate of the Pharmacy School, University of  Pittsburgh, Dr. Harry L. Smith was born in Hinton  and resided there until 1913. After his graduation, he  was employed at a drug store in Alderson owned by  S. S. Rose of Hinton. Upon completing a tour of duty  in France during World War 1, he bought the Rose  store. In observance of their Golden Wedding Anniversary, Mr. and Mrs.  Harry L. Smith were honored at a reception given from 7 to 9 P. M.  Saturday at their Alderson home. The affair was hosted by Mr. and  Mrs. T. J. McCarthy and Dr. and Mrs. D. O. Powell. Floral  arrangements in yellow and gold were placed at vantage points  throughout the home, and a three-tiered anniversary cake  centered the honorees' table. The tea table was laid with a cutwork cloth and centered with yellow roses and gold chrysanthemums  arranged in a cut glass bowl, flanked by tall gold tapers. Mrs.  Smith received guest in a pale blue A-line skimmer, accented with  a corsage of yellow cymbidium orchids. A graduate of the  Pharmacy School, University of Pittsburgh, Reception aids  included Mrs. J. N. Nash, Mrs. Mann Nash, Mrs. F. I. Rowe, Mrs.  Carl Bivens, Mrs. Robert Housby, Mrs. J. A. Rigg, Miss Ellen  Langley Johnson, Mrs. A. W. Kittenger, Mrs. Nell Arnold, Mrs. John  Alderson, Jr., Mrs Grayson Housby, Mrs. carl Patton, Mrs. Dorothy  Hullings, Mrs. Elmo Richmond and Mrs. Harold Pence.  Approximately 150 persons were registered.   Picture taken in the early 1960s.
