Homer Perdue was a
great man. He was the janitor at Alderson high school, and a
superb human being. Homer never missed an opportunity to
help someone when the opportunity to help was there. He used
to open the gym on early Saturday morning and let us stay
until late in the evening. Even more extra ordinary he would
come to the school on Sunday and let me go in and shoot
basketball for hours, which was quite a sacrifice on his
part. He was a wonderful person to know and converse with.
Thanks to Homer I was able to use our gym in all kinds of
off hours, he really made a contribution to the youth of
Alderson, he was a great friend, and an outstanding
Aldersonian. |
