Samuel Walter Ballengee went to be with his Heavenly Father after a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, June 27th 2020. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat (Tootie) Ballengee, his precious mother Betty Ballengee and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his three children-Kaye Nolen (husband Dallas), Randy Ballengee and Tammy Ballengee-Conner (husband Jackson) as well as his cherished grandchildren-Katie Nolen, Samuel Nolen, Jacquelyn Persiani (wife Rachel), Markus Ballengee, Mason Layne, Elliott Ballengee, Nolee Ballengee and great grandchildren Jayden Nolen and Allison Pace.

Sam devotedly provided for his family, working for Exxon Company until retiring in 1995. He had a passion for loving Jesus, mowing grass, smoking a Winston, fixing vehicles and drinking coffee from sun up to sun down. He will be missed for his kind and gentle spirit, his wide smile and his generosity to all he knew. His loving spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched throughout his beautiful 81 years on this earth. Sam was a graduate of Alderson High School, class of 1957.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30th 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lotz Funeral Home (305 E Washington Ave, Vinton, VA 24179). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1st 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens (5737 Airport Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24012).
