Jim was born on August 24, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  His parents Gordon and Bernice Goulding preceded him in death.  He is survived by sisters Virginia Thomas of Lewisburg, WV and Cindy Workman of Portland, OR, and by nieces Audrey Persinger of Pence Springs and Emily Thomas of Lewisburg, WV.

Jim was a graduate of Alderson High School, Class of 1964, and Concord College, and was a former teacher and librarian at Greenbrier Junior High.  He loved fishing, swimming at Hart’s Run State Park, spending quality time with friends, and most of all his little dog Abby.  His resilience and determination in the face of a progressive lifelong physical disability were an inspiration to his friends and family.  He maintained a can-do spirit and positive attitude until the end, and he especially treasured friendships he maintained with classmates from Alderson and Concord College.
