An August Afternoon
(Photos- Ward Parker)

Did you ever think, that without the Greenbrier, would Alderson have been there? At the time it was settled, one of the main things to have around was water, and the Greenbrier took care of that. Move ahead a couple of hundred years. This is for Alderson residents and former residents. Can you ever remember crossing the old bridge on foot or bike, and not looking at the river?  Can you remember choosing which side of the bridge to cross so you could look either up or down the river?  Ward Parker took these photos and it represents my favorite view. An August after noon, just before the sun goes down.  The water is calm and reflects as glass. You see an occasional fish jump. (I'm sorry to say the fish didn't cooperate  this time.) Remember? -Barry Worrell
