I Vote For Redwolves

Barry Worrell 7-16-2020

The world has it's problems and with the pandemic all problems have been aggravated by it's presence. In a positive light, I've always been amazed at the human race's ability to adjust and solve many problems. One area is sports. It has always brought people together for at least a temporary time of unity.

One problem in particular is the nickname of the NFL Washington Redskins football team. (in this case. N.F.L. stands for, "not for long".) After years of refusing to change name, "Redskins", it's finally going to happen. The pressure of the Native Americans of the country, plus several very large businesses of this country, has brought a resolution to the problem. Change The Name!

The re-badging of a team such as the Washington Football team is not an easy task. The team is require to buy back any team related product from vendors, get new copyrights, new logos. As expensive as that is, there probably isn't any question on how to do these things, but how long is it going to take?

Selecting a name and logo really takes thought. Many hours will go into this process. The logo has to represent the name of the team, which comes first. There is a gentleman that has already applied for copyrights on many names that Washington might want to use. The team has decided not to continue the Native American motif, and symbols. Selecting a name these days can be a problem. Someone, somewhere is going to have an issue with the selection.

The millions of fans of the Redskins have had 87 years of making the team a part of their lives, and the change of name is not going well with them. However, some are coming around, including me. Personally, I'm anxious to know what name they will choose. Most of all, I'm just waiting on Football.

At the present, the name 'Redwolves" is leading as the fan favorite. The team wants to keep the color scheme and replacing just the logo should make that part of re-badging easier.

The Red Wolves are a canine native to the southeastern United States. Under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service currently recognizes the red wolf as an endangered species and grants protected status. This could also be a good cause to donate to, the perseveration of this wolf. This is my favorite.

Note: This logo is not a actual logo. It has been mock up by a graphic artist.

Second favorite:

The Red Tails represent The Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American and Caribbean-born military pilots, who distinguished themselves in World War II. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces, and painted the tails of their P-47s red, the nickname "Red Tails" was coined. I like this one also.

Who knows how long we'll have to wait to see what they will select. I guess it's not so bad to start all over again, but in this world that's moving so fast in everything, I wish they would hurry.
