This is America, Isn't It?

Barry Worrell - October 17, 2011

There are so many things going on in our country today, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to grasp it all. The elections, demonstrations, illegal immigration, government regulations, jobs, home foreclosures, our boys scattered all over the world trying to keep one country from killing another, or us. The basis for this is freedom. Everyone has their own ideas on how to solve any one of these, and there is a lot more problems than what I listed.

I heard a story on the news, about a resort hotel firing an employee because he refused to stop wearing his American Flag pin. Such a small  item, and after all, it did state in the companies' policy book that employees shall not wear any pins, badges, patches, etc., on their uniforms. This is a microcosm of what's going on in our country. Step by step, little by little we're forgetting how to be Americans. This is America, isn't it?

Maybe, little by little, people or companies should start reversing these minute, and meaningless rules, to show they are Americans. If we personally are not restricted to wear the American Flag on our clothing, why don't we? Why don't we want to show everyone that we're proud to be Americans, in spite of our problems. It's such a small, small thing to do.

So, I've put an American Flag on the front page of this web site to show I am an American, and I don't want to this country to forget what American stands for. Also, I'm going to start wearing that small American Flag pin on my clothing. I even might get a sticker for my car.

After all, this is America, isn't it?
